We came to Hawaii on vacation. The Big Island feels even closer to nature than the rest of Hawaii. There are relatively few people, and compared to the other islands it’s said to be beautiful but quiet. Hawaii is famous for Kona coffee, one of the world’s top three coffees. Today we stopped by a coffee farm in Holualoa, near Kona, where the mineral-rich volcanic soil grows some of the finest Kona coffee in the world. It’s called “Heavenly Hawaiian.”

The parking lot was packed that day, and it looked like people were doing a tour of the local coffee farms. Sipping great coffee while gazing out at the view from up high, you don’t envy anyone. The coffee-growing areas around Kona get rain out of nowhere and a lot of fog, and that unique weather probably has a huge effect on the coffee. In Hawaii’s usual humid, muggy weather, the cool breeze and misty fog feel like an oasis in the desert. The kids loved it and ran all over the place.

Here you can taste 4 kinds for free, and SILK was hands-down the best. The others had a bit of a burnt taste or a slightly odd aroma, but SILK shows you what deep Hawaiian Kona coffee is really about.

So we bought two bags of SILK, $58 each… ouch. There’s a separate Dark Roast right next to it, so don’t mix them up.

Here’s what it looks like on Google Maps.
